Over the last year, LimitState has played a key role in an industry-wide, government-backed research project into best practice in additive manufacturing. Now, our consortium's research findings can be revealed at a seminar at the Manufacturing Technology Centre.

Led by the Government's Innovate UK agency, the ANVIL project has identified significant enhancements to additive manufacturing that will be of great benefit to organisations working in high value manufacture. The project focused on providing standards and tools that will drive the adoption of AM metal powder bed fusion processes. A key product of this research is that it has solved the problem of designing optimized forms for additive manufacturing. This breakthrough has been achieved via LimitState's unique optimization technology.

We are therefore delighted to announnce the launch event for this important research, Setting the standards for Additive Manufacturing, which will run at the Manufactruring Technology Centre in Coventry on Tuesday, 20th September 2016.

The event will reveal key information on additive manufacturing best practice including:

  • Benchmarks for AM machine performance
  • Novel design optimization technology for AM components
  • Online resources for the design and manufacture of AM components

A key problem the ANVIL project aimed to solve was how to design optimized forms that are suitable for additive manufacture. At the launch event, the ANVIL team will show how this break-through was achieved using LimitState's novel layout and geometry optimization technology.

LimitState worked with a consortium of additive manufacturing industry leaders to deliver this research, including the MTC, 3TRPD, Rolls Royce, JRI, K-Tech, Magna Parva and TWI. As well as meeting key LimitState personnel, seminar attendees will also be able to engage with the other project consortium members.
